The Egyptian Football Association announced the imposition of severe penalties on the Zamalek trio Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, Nabil Emad Dunga and Mostafa Shalaby due to the events that took place in the Egyptian Super Cup.
The trio had been imprisoned in the Emirates for a week on charges of assaulting a security officer while performing his duties after the Pyramids match at Al Nahyan Stadium in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
The Emirati judiciary issued a ruling to imprison the trio for a month, before the President of the State, Mohammed bin Zayed, issued a pardon for them based on the fraternal ties between his country and Egypt.
The Egyptian Federation imposed a 4-match suspension on the trio, but it will only be applied in the Egyptian Super Cup matches.
Thus, Dunga and Mostafa Shalaby can participate in Zamalek’s matches in the Egyptian League and the Cup, and the Director of Football, Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, can also sit on the bench without any problem.
The penalties included imposing a fine of 20 thousand pounds on Zamalek on charges of collective insults, with 20 thousand pounds on the trio due to the events after the Pyramids match.
Although Zamalek management wanted to appeal these penalties, the regulations prevent that and make the penalties enforceable.
According to the regulations, it is not permissible to appeal a penalty of less than 200 thousand pounds or a suspension of less than 6 matches.
