Arsenal continued its series of disappointing results in the Premier League, after losing to Newcastle at St James’ Park 1-0 in the tenth round.
The only goal of the match came through Alexander Isak with a wonderful header in the 11th minute, and despite the Gunners’ attempts until the last moments, Mikel Arteta’s squad failed to shake the home team’s net.
This is the third consecutive match for the Gunners in the Premier League without a win, and the team’s second defeat in the competition.
Arsenal lost the penultimate round against Bournemouth 1-0, then tied in the last round with Liverpool 2-2 and today lost to Newcastle by a clean goal as well.
Arsenal’s balance froze after this defeat at 18 points, and it will most likely lose third place by the end of the round.
