Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti analyzed his team’s season so far to reach a conclusion about the reasons for the decline in performance and results in the recent period.
The Italian coach has been under fire in recent days after the heavy loss suffered by the Merengue in the Clasico against Real Madrid 4-0.
Ancelotti sought to identify the reasons for the defeat and what the team needs offensively and defensively, especially since Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to have expressed his anger at the way the team plays this season.
Ancelotti identifies Real Madrid’s problem with Mbappe
According to the “Relevo” network, Ancelotti believes that Real Madrid’s current problem lies in the players performing defensive roles and not in the defense line as individuals.
In particular, the Italian believes that Kylian Mbappe does not provide any kind of defensive support as it should, which makes the team play with 10 players in the defensive state.
Ancelotti cited the numbers as evidence, as the French international only ran 8 kilometers in the Clasico, which is much less than what he is supposed to provide.
Ancelotti decides to make changes to Mbappe’s roles
Ancelotti admits that he is one of the reasons for Mbappe’s poor defensive performance, as he did not want to increase the burdens and pressures on him with additional roles that would affect his offensive level.
But at the same time, the coach realizes that there is anger in the locker room about this among the players, so the decision is to treat Mbappe like the rest of the players.
Accordingly, Mbappe, starting from the Milan match, will be asked to play more defensive roles and will have to run more and provide support to the team as a whole.

Mbappe’s offensive numbers
