Officially.. Ilyas Akhomach suffers a cruciate ligament injury

Villarreal announced in an official statement that their star Ilyas Akhomach suffered a complete cruciate ligament tear during his participation in the match against Alaves on Saturday.

Akhomach had scored his first goal this season in La Liga against Alaves during Marcelino’s team’s 3-0 victory and its arrival in fourth place.

Unfortunately, the Moroccan international suffered a complete cruciate ligament tear and a sprain in the internal ligament of his right knee, and his season with Villarreal has definitely ended.

Akhomach will need at least 9 months to return and participate in football matches.

The 20-year-old was called up to play Morocco’s two matches during the international break in November, and Zakaria Aboukhlal is expected to succeed him.

It is worth noting that Akhomach is one of the sons of the Barcelona Academy, then moved to Villarreal for free in the summer of 2023, and this season he was a basic patch with the team at the Estadio de la Ceramica and participated in all its matches.
