Egyptian media outlets reported a court ruling to imprison Al-Ahly star Emam Ashour for 6 months.
The story began months ago when a security guard at a store filed a report against Emam Ashour on charges of assaulting him.
The player justified the assault at the time by saying that the security guard had caused, in one way or another, harassment to his wife, who complained of being harassed.
After the matter reached the court, Ashour was acquitted and released on bail of 5,000 Egyptian pounds, before the prosecution appealed the decision.
According to the newspaper “Al-Masry Al-Youm”, the Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanor Court accepted the appeal and overturned the acquittal, and ruled to imprison him for 6 months.
It is not yet known what steps the player will take in the coming period, and whether there is a possibility of appealing the ruling and trying to reconcile or whether the ruling will be enforceable.
The ruling comes days after the end of the crisis of another Al-Ahly player, Hussein El-Shahat, after he reconciled with Mohamed El-Sheebi and thus will not be imprisoned on charges of assaulting the Moroccan player.
