British press reports indicated that Pep Guardiola is very close to renewing his contract with Manchester City for another year.
The Spanish coach’s contract with City expires at the end of the current season, and he previously announced that he has not made his final decision on whether to leave or continue.
According to the latest news, City’s management has succeeded in reaching an agreement with Guardiola to extend his contract for another year, and only some final touches remain to announce the news officially.
Thus, City ensures the continuation of its historic coach and his leadership in the 2025 Club World Cup, which kicks off next June, with another season during which he hopes to continue dominating English football.
Among the reasons that convinced the coach to continue was the England national team’s contract with Thomas Tuchel as a permanent coach starting in the new year, while Guardiola aspired to this position and was interested in occupying it.
The renewal also comes to confirm confidence in Guardiola despite City’s recent decline, represented by losing the last 4 consecutive matches in 3 different tournaments.
It is noteworthy that Guardiola took over the training of City in 2015, succeeding Manuel Pellegrini, and since then he has achieved 17 championships, the most expensive of which was the Champions League.
