The Catalan newspaper “El Nacional” claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo had contacted Mohamed Salah in the past few weeks.
The focus of this contact was an attempt to convince the Portuguese star to join the Saudi League and Al-Nassr, whether in the winter or summer.
Ronaldo asks Al-Nassr to sign Salah
According to the “El Nacional” report, Ronaldo asked Al-Nassr’s management to sign Salah, and he sees him as a great addition to the “Knight of Najd” in the future.
It seems that Salah is ready to leave Liverpool for the first time since arriving at Anfield in the summer of 2017, in light of the expiration of his contract with the Reds at the end of the current season and the failure to reach an agreement with him to renew it so far.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah’s call
Cristiano Ronaldo’s role within Al-Nassr is no longer limited to playing football and scoring goals, but the 39-year-old wants to leave his mark outside the stadiums as well and play his role as a leader.
For this reason, Ronaldo himself called Salah in order to convince him to join Al-Nassr in the coming period.
The Don acts as an unofficial ambassador for the Saudi League project, and personally intervenes in more than one deal to convince players to join the competition.
Ronaldo conveyed to Salah the long-term plans of the Saudi League, and explained to him Al-Nasr’s plans, trying to convince him that the right step for him is to move to “Al-Alamy”.
It is worth noting in this regard that the newspaper “El Nacional” is the only one that raised Al-Nasr’s interest in Salah and Ronaldo’s call to him, so it is unknown how credible it is in this regard.
Salah admires Ronaldo
The news from “El Nacional” comes a few days after Salah’s statements in which he expressed his great admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Egyptian star said that when he started his professional career in Europe, Ronaldo was one of the players he admired the most.
The “Egyptian King” also expressed his admiration for Ronaldo’s sporting lifestyle and his obsession with maintaining his fitness.
Will Salah move to the Saudi League?
With the latest news, Al-Nasr becomes the third Saudi club interested in signing Mohamed Salah after his contract with Liverpool ends in the summer of 2025.
Al-Ittihad was the first interested in the summer of 2023, and the deal was close to being achieved at the time, had it not been for the intervention of Liverpool coach at the time, Jurgen Klopp, who stopped the matter at the last moment.
Al-Ittihad was linked again to Salah this summer, but Al-Hilal’s name appeared for the first time at the time, and the name “Al-Zaeem” was repeated in the past days to sign the 31-year-old as soon as the season ends to support Jorge Jesus’ squad in the 2025 Club World Cup.
Salah also has interest from European clubs, most notably Barcelona, and Liverpool is trying to convince him to continue as well, but the dispute between them is over the salary, as the player wants to receive 350 thousand pounds sterling per week.
On the contrary, what Salah is asking for seems to be little compared to what he might receive in Saudi Arabia, as he may guarantee at least 100 million annually as a salary for him if he moves to any club in the Roshn League.
