Former English football star Troy Deeney believes that Mohamed Salah is a special player, but he does not rise to the level of being classified as a “world player” for him.
Deeney spoke in statements to Talk Sport about Salah, saying, “Without a doubt, Salah is an excellent player and a pivotal part of Liverpool, but I do not think he is a world player.”
He also added, “For me, a world player is someone I want my children to emulate and play like, and that is not Salah.”
He continued, “If I told my children to play as strikers, I would ask them to emulate Vinicius Junior, not Mohamed Salah.”
He concluded, “I confirm that I appreciate Salah, he scored goals in unbelievable ways, but that is my point of view, he is not a world player, maybe he will respond and say who is Troy to talk about me, but that is my point of view.”
Troy Deeney is best known for his spell at Watford from 2012 to 2021, before moving to Birmingham and ending his career with Forest Green in 2024.
