Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho was content to mock the news that he was trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo to the Turkish club.
Turkish newspapers had claimed that Mourinho had contacted Ronaldo in the past few days and urged him to join him at Fenerbahce after his contract with Al-Nassr ends at the end of the current season.
When Special One was asked about the truth of this news, he replied, “The news circulating about Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Fenerbahce is ridiculous.”
He also added, “Ronaldo may come to Istanbul to eat because it is halfway between Saudi Arabia and Portugal.”
He concluded, “He may also come to Turkey to meet an old friend Jose (meaning himself), we can eat together at the hotel where I am staying.”
Things are moving in the direction of Ronaldo staying with Al-Nassr for another year after Saudi media confirmed advanced negotiations between the two parties to keep the 39-year-old until the 2026 World Cup.
