Mohamed Salah had the opportunity to score his third goal in Real Madrid’s history after winning a penalty kick, but his shot went outside the goal.

However, Liverpool were not affected much, as Cody Gakpo was able to head Arne Slot’s battalion to secure the three precious points at Anfield.

This victory breaks Real Madrid’s unbeaten streak against Liverpool, which extended over 7 matches between the two teams in the Champions League.

Liverpool’s last victory before this encounter against the royal club dates back to 2009, also at Anfield, with four goals, and after that the two teams met 7 times, most notably in the 2018 and 2022 Champions League finals, where Real won 6 times and the two teams tied once.

With this victory, Liverpool is on the verge of qualifying for the round of 16 in the Champions League after reaching 15 points and singing alone at the top, while Real Madrid’s balance froze at six points in 24th place.
