Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi ended the controversy that has been circulating in the past week about his club’s interest in signing Mohamed Salah after his contract with Liverpool ends.
The newspaper “L’Equipe” had published a report that the French club’s officials have been in contact with Salah’s agent for a long time, and that there are “good chances” for the deal to be completed next summer.
“L’Equipe” confirmed that the personal relationship between Al-Khelaifi and Salah may be one of the incentives for the Egyptian star to move to the Parc des Princes stadium.
In turn, Al-Khelaifi denied these rumors in statements to Sky Sports, saying, “Salah is a great player, but honestly we never thought about signing him.”
He also added, “We know that all the clubs in the world wish to have Salah, but simply the rumor circulating around us is not true.”
Al-Khelaifi’s statement comes hours after English media confirmed that Salah is ready to accept a one-year contract with Liverpool in order to renew.
The Egyptian star is attracting interest from the Saudi league and Inter Miami, and it has been said that Inter Milan may also be interested in signing the 32-year-old.
