Borussia Dortmund confirmed in an official statement the validity of its position in the crisis of Youssoufa Moukoko’s age falsification, and that the player, according to the official approved documents, was born in 2004.
The media had published in the past days that Moukoko’s father announced that he was not his biological father and that he had falsified his age and reduced it by 4 years, which sparked a huge controversy.
The matter required an official response from Dortmund, although the player is currently not active in the German club and was loaned with the intention of selling him to Nice last summer.
The Dortmund statement said that the official documents approved by the German authorities regarding the identity of the parents and his date of birth are still valid and have not been proven to be forged, and therefore there is no truth to what was reported in this regard.
These means were sufficient for the player to participate in the Bundesliga and before that to represent the German national team under 21 years old, so from a legal point of view, there is no blame on Dortmund or the German Football Association.
Meanwhile, Moukoko’s biological parents, according to the documents, have confirmed their authenticity to Dortmund and therefore there is no dispute for the club about this matter.
It is worth noting that Moukoko played 99 matches with Dortmund in all competitions, and represented the German national team twice. This season, he moved to Nice, where he played 13 matches, during which he scored two goals and made two assists.
