Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, confirmed that he will fight with his team until the last moment of this season, but he revealed one case that would make him decide to leave the Etihad Stadium early.
The Spanish coach had signed contracts to extend his contract for two additional years with the English club, but the results of this season have been disastrous, both locally and in Europe.
Before the Manchester derby, Guardiola spoke about his future and said, “In the past, we did not lose 7 matches throughout the entire season, things have turned upside down now and this is the state of football and life in general.”
He also added, “A month ago, if you told me that we would lose 7 out of 10 matches, I would have called you crazy and confirmed that this would not happen, but in reality things have changed, and we may lose more matches.”
He continued, “Winning a championship this season would be my best achievement? No, I am sorry, we have already achieved the greatest achievement before.”
“I will only leave Manchester City if I feel I have lost the team, when I don’t see the players running enough,” he continued. “Rather, when everyone says that the coach is just controlling the team and none of the players follow him anymore, but so far we have not reached that stage.”
