It has become almost certain that Barcelona star Lamine Yamal will not be able to participate in the Catalan club’s match against Atletico Madrid next week.
Yamal suffered a severe ankle sprain during Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Leganes at the Olympic Stadium of Lluís Companys on Saturday.
According to Radio Catalunya, the 17-year-old’s injury is not simple, and he will be out of the stadiums for a period that will not be short.
As for the Atletico match, Yamal’s chances of making it are zero, with expectations that the player’s absence from Barça may reach a full month.
Yamal is currently undergoing comprehensive tests to determine the nature of the sprain and the exact time he needs to recover.
Barcelona’s current hopes lie in Yamal recovering before the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, which will kick off on January 8 with a match between Barça and Athletic Bilbao.
It remains to be noted that Yamal participated with Barcelona this season in 21 matches in all tournaments, during which he scored 6 goals and made 12 others.
