Al-Ahly announced in an official statement that its star Reda Selim suffered a major injury that will keep him off the field for a long time.
Selim was substituted in the first half of the recent match against Belouizdad, which ended with a big victory for the Red Devils with a score of 6-1
The Moroccan star underwent extensive examinations in the past few days, which proved that he had a partial tear in the outer cartilage of the knee.
The statement did not specify the expected period of Reda Selim’s absence, and was satisfied with only a statement from the club’s doctor confirming that the player will undergo further examinations to determine the method of his treatment.
According to what was reported by the Egyptian media, Selim will undergo surgery outside Egypt to treat the knee cartilage, and the examinations he will undergo are only to clarify the method by which the surgery will be performed, which will affect the date of his return to the field.
In the event of a general cartilage removal, the Moroccan will be absent from Al-Ahly for two months, but if he undergoes a suture operation for the torn part, his absence will extend between 4 to 5 months.
In addition to his technical loss throughout that period, this injury will make it difficult for Al-Ahly to sell him before the Club World Cup or even loan him out as planned.
It is noteworthy that Reda Selim was recently linked with a return to Morocco through Wydad on loan, but this injury ends the idea completely.
