Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, confirmed that Bukayo Saka’s absence may extend for a longer period than expected due to injury.
The England international underwent surgery after injuring his hamstring, and initial predictions indicated that he would be out for a maximum of two months.
After the Gunners’ victory over Ipswich Town on Friday, Arteta was asked about when Saka would return, and he responded with a very shocking news.
The Spanish coach said in this regard, “Bukayo will be out for many, many weeks, probably more than two months.”
He added, “He had surgery and now it depends on how the scar tissue starts to heal, and how much movement he can have.”
As for the possibility of signing a replacement winger for Saka during the winter transfer market, Arteta responded by saying, “We will see, all I hope now is that we do not suffer any more injuries.”
“There is good news that Sterling will return earlier than we expected and that could help us as well,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that English media outlets have reported Arsenal’s interest in signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham to replace Saka in a deal that could cost the Gunners at least 60 million euros.
