Unexpectedly, Real Madrid’s management is supporting Barcelona in the Dani Olmo case and believes that La Liga should allow the player to be registered with the Catalan club.
The Olmo issue has escalated recently after both La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation refused to register the player with Barcelona, prompting the Catalan club to turn to the Supreme Sports Council to resolve the matter.
According to “Onda Cero,” Florentino Pérez believes that Olmo and Pau Víctor must be registered at all costs, even if it requires an exceptional decision.
Despite the historic rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, the Royal Club does not want to see Barça collapse in any way and views the two clubs as “partners” rather than enemies.
Real Madrid’s stance on the Olmo issue mirrors its position on several other matters involving Barcelona, including the refereeing bribery case. Even though Real Madrid was involved in that case, it did not damage the relationship between Joan Laporta’s administration and Florentino Pérez.
Sevilla remains the club most actively opposing Barcelona in the Olmo case, which has led Laporta’s administration to completely sever ties with the Andalusian club, despite their interest in signing Ansu Fati and other players this winter.
Spanish media had previously suggested that Real Madrid might be interested in signing Olmo if he leaves Barcelona. However, these reports appear to be unfounded, as the Merengues want the player to stay at Camp Nou and hope for improved economic conditions there, which would benefit everyone.
