The Spanish Supreme Council for Sports issued an official statement announcing its approval of the urgent precautionary measure requested by Barcelona regarding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
The approval is temporary until a final decision is made on the appeal submitted by the club and the players. It suspends the decision of the Monitoring Committee of the Coordination Agreement between the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga, issued on January 4, 2025, which had revoked the licenses of the aforementioned players.
The duo will now be able to participate in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia with Hansi Flick’s squad, including today’s match if the German coach decides to include them.
The Supreme Council for Sports justified its temporary decision by stating that there is no clear legal harm or immediate consequences that would be difficult to repair. Additionally, Barcelona is participating in an official tournament with significant media and economic impact, and suspending the licenses of Olmo and Víctor would harm the club, the players, the Spanish Federation, and La Liga.
The Council emphasized in its statement that the ruling is temporary, meaning the entire matter will be reviewed again before a final and decisive verdict is issued regarding the players’ registration.
Spanish media had previously confirmed that the Supreme Council for Sports’ review of the case could take up to three months, during which Olmo and Víctor can play normally for Barcelona and represent the Spanish national team.
