Arsenal star Kai Havertz’s wife has received death threats from fanatics on her Instagram account.
Havertz had a poor game against Manchester United on Sunday, missing a clear goal and then a penalty, as Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup in the third round.
Some of the Gunners’ diehard fans sent threatening messages to Havertz’s wife expressing their anger, one of which included someone wanting to kill her son.
Havertz’s wife posted the messages on Instagram Stories, expressing her shock at the kind of threats made over a football game.
“It’s shocking to me that anyone would think it’s acceptable to write something like this. I hope you feel so ashamed of yourself,” Sofia said.
In another message, she added: “I don’t even know what to say, but please be more respectful. We are better than this.”
According to the BBC, Arsenal reported the abuse to the authorities and the club is working with a data analysis company to try to identify the perpetrators.
It is worth noting that Havertz has participated with Arsenal this season in 27 matches in all competitions, during which he scored 12 goals and made 3 others.
