The Athletic network confirmed that Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has been confirmed to have torn cruciate ligament.
The Brazilian participated in the Manchester United match in the FA Cup, and before he left it affected by the injury, Gunners coach Mikel Arteta confirmed that it was severe.
The medical examinations that Jesus underwent confirmed that he had torn cruciate ligament and will be absent until the end of the current season, initially.
This particular injury usually requires a long period of absence, starting from 6 months and up to a year, depending on the player’s ability to recover and the extent of his interaction with the treatment program.
Jesus’ injury is a major blow to Arsenal as he is the only available option as a striker on the Gunners’ roster, and accordingly, the London club is expected to enter the transfer market in search of a new striker.
Jesus joins England’s Bukayo Saka, who suffered a serious thigh injury that will keep him out until next March, as Arsenal’s two most notable absentees this season.
Arsenal are second in the Premier League, have reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals and are hoping to qualify for the last 16 or the Champions League play-offs.
