Journalist Alex Pentanel revealed that Ronald Araujo has informed Barcelona’s management of his intention to leave during the current winter transfer window.
Araujo’s decision comes despite the injury suffered by his defensive colleague Inigo Martinez, who will be out for at least a month, which is supposed to pave the way for him to participate regularly.
The Uruguayan defender received public support from club president Joan Laporta and coach Hansi Flick, and his teammates also tried to convince him to stay, as appeared after the Spanish Super Cup final.
However, Araujo seems determined to leave, with Juventus emerging as the most likely destination, and he has already informed the management of this decision.
Negotiations are expected to be difficult, as Barcelona do not intend to allow Araujo to leave easily or at a low price.
Juventus initially plan to make an offer of 50 million euros, which does not meet the ambitions of the Barcelona management, which seeks to earn 70 million behind the 25-year-old.
Martinez’s absence due to injury, which could extend to eight matches, in addition to the possibility of Araujo’s departure, will leave Barcelona in a clear defensive crisis.
