Xabi Alonso, the coach of Bayer Leverkusen, confirmed that he is currently only thinking about leading his team to achieve positive results, in response to speculation linking him to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
While he was in Madrid preparing for the match against Atletico, Alonso faced many questions about his future, but he refused to answer them and was content to confirm that he is currently focused only on Leverkusen.
The Spaniard said, “Real Madrid? I have enough things that occupy me, and this is not on my mind at the moment, I am very calm.”
He also added, “I cannot say anything, we are in the middle of the season and all clubs have big goals. Atletico has goals, Real Madrid too, and I am thinking about achieving them. The match is very important to us, and my focus is on it.”
He continued, speaking about his history with Real Madrid, “Years pass but the affection remains, and this relationship is unforgettable, I am always grateful to Real Madrid.”
“It was a very strong relationship, it was a very beautiful stage as a player,” he concluded.
