Qatari media reported that Xavi Hernandez is close to returning to work again as coach of Al-Sadd.
The Al-Sadd management decided to dismiss coach Felix Sanchez due to poor results, and according to reports, negotiations have begun with Xavi to succeed him.
The Spanish coach has not led any club since leaving Barcelona at the end of last season, despite more than one exciting offer from major European clubs.
According to the Qatari press, Xavi has agreed to return to Al-Sadd for a second term, and is expected to arrive in Doha within hours to complete the agreement.
However, this was denied by the newspaper “Marca”, which confirmed, according to a source close to the former Barcelona coach, that he does not want to return to the Middle East at the present time.
The source says that Xavi’s goal in the coming period of his career is to coach a European club that has a medium-term project.
Xavi stipulates that this European club should not be in Spain, as he does not want to work except in Barcelona there, and he does not expect to return before completing his vacation, meaning that at the beginning of next season he may coach a new team.
