A new crisis has erupted in Egyptian football due to Al-Ahly striker Nejc Gradisar after he participated in the second half of the Al-Ahly and Pyramids match in the Egyptian League on Sunday.
Al-Ahly announced two days before the Pyramids match that it had signed Gradisar for 1.5 million euros, and he then participated in the match and scored the equalizer in the match that ended 2-2 at Cairo International Stadium.
Pyramids confirms: Gradisar’s participation is illegal
Egyptian media confirmed that Pyramids sent a message to the Egyptian Football Association to ask about the legality of Gradisar’s participation in the match.
The matter is that Gradisar was on the TMS international system as a player in his previous team (Hungarian Vihavre) until the end of the Al-Ahly and Pyramids match.
Thus, it is impossible for him to participate with Al-Ahly, as his international card did not reach the Egyptian Football Association in the first place.
In this regard, FIFA’s laws are strict that a player cannot participate with his new team before his international card arrives.
Pyramids wondered how the Football Association issued a card for Gradisar while his international card did not arrive or he is present on the international electronic system.
Pyramids plans to resort to FIFA
Egyptian press reports stated that Pyramids Club is planning to resort to FIFA and a complaint from the Egyptian Federation claiming that the 22-year-old striker’s participation in the match was illegal.
As for Pyramids, this step depends primarily on how the Football Association responds to the inquiry, and whether it will present a legal argument or admit the mistake.
The Blue Club is clear that the player’s participation is completely illegal, and therefore the three points should be counted for them.
