Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Arsenal player Ayden Heaven on a free transfer.
Heaven is considered one of the best young defenders in the world, and has played one match for Arsenal’s first team this season, in the Carabao Cup.
The London club tried to keep Heaven at the end of his contract, and the player was also of interest to many other clubs, but he ultimately decided to sign for the Red Devils.
Heaven will join United immediately, and has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, noting that he will train with the first team directly.
The 18-year-old player said in response to the deal, “I am very proud to be joining Manchester United, and I am grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality.”
Heaven is United’s first signing this winter, and the English club is currently working on signing Lecce left-back Patrick Dogo.
