Ancelotti: The refereeing is the reason for Real Madrid’s loss to Espanyol!

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti blamed the refereeing for his team’s 1-0 loss to Espanyol in La Liga.

Referee Muniz caused a stir after he refused to send off an Espanyol player after a violent tackle on Kylian Mbappe, and also disallowed a goal for Real that could have changed the course of the match.

Ancelotti spoke to the media after the match and said, “The decision taken by the referee and the video technology regarding a shot in Mbappe’s play cannot be explained.”

He also added, “Everyone saw what happened, we cannot understand why the Espanyol player did not get a red card.”

He continued, “The most important thing is to protect the player, it is a clear violation, a very ugly and risky tackle and fortunately nothing happened to Mbappe, the video technology is here for such cases.”

Regarding the match, the Italian coach said, “Espanyol played a good match and defended very well and played on the counterattack, and for us the match was not as bad as the result.”

“We are still in the competition and we have to look forward to the next match now,” he concluded.

It is worth noting that the difference between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid has been reduced to one point in favor of the Merengues before their match next week at the Santiago Bernabéu.
