Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of Nico Gonzalez’s transfer from Porto to Manchester City is Barcelona.
The Catalan club sold Gonzalez to Porto in the summer of 2023 for 8 million euros, and the young player’s abilities quickly exploded in Portugal.
City succeeded in reaching an agreement with Porto to buy the 23-year-old for 60 million euros in the last days of the winter transfer window.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona will make a lot of money from this deal.
The contract for selling Gonzalez to Porto stipulates that Barcelona will have 40% of the player’s transfer value to any club in the future.
With the deduction of 8 million paid by Porto to Barça, the remaining value of the player’s transfer to City will be 52 million euros, of which Barcelona will receive 40%, or 20 million euros.
Perhaps if this deal had been completed relatively early, it would have helped Barcelona in one way or another to enter the winter transfer market and at least conclude a deal.
