Ronaldo reveals: I was close to joining Barcelona

Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that he was close to joining Barcelona at one point, noting that playing at Camp Nou always motivated him.

The Don said in a lengthy interview, “I sat with one of the Barcelona officials and it was possible for me to play there, that was when I was young at Sporting Lisbon.”

He also added, “That didn’t happen because they wanted to sign me the following year, then Manchester United came along and signed me immediately.”

Ronaldo talked about playing at Camp Nou, saying, “I loved playing and scoring goals there, the stadium encouraged me a lot.”

He continued, “I was booed and insulted there, but I didn’t care, all I was thinking about was scoring goals to silence those people.”

He concluded, “I loved scoring goals at Camp Nou more than at Santiago Bernabeu.”

It is noteworthy that Ronaldo, throughout his career with Real Madrid, Juventus or Manchester United, scored 20 goals against Barcelona in 34 matches in all tournaments.
