Manchester City announced the registration of Omar Marmoush in the team’s list participating in the Champions League.
The English club had the right to register only 4 players in the list after reaching the round of 16 play-off, and controversy arose over Pep Guardiola’s choices.
Ultimately, the Spanish coach decided to register Marmoush, City’s most expensive deal in the winter, which cost the English club 75 million euros.
In addition to Marmoush, Guardiola decided to register the new duo Abdulkadir Khosanov and Nico Gonzalez.
The biggest surprise was the philosopher’s decision to register Rodri in the European list despite his cruciate ligament injury and the difficulty of his return before the end of the season.
But Guardiola seems to have hope for an early return for Rodri, so he preferred his presence at the expense of the winter deal Victor Reyes.
Reyes was left out as Guardiola realised he still had a lot of experience to gain in Europe, with Ballon d’Or winner Rodri preferred despite his injury.
With these decisions, Marmoush will be at the top of City’s list for the two games against Real Madrid in the last 16, the first of which will be next Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium.
