The Egyptian Clubs Association’s Competitions Committee announced the imposition of a severe penalty on Zamalek star Nasser Maher due to his behavior in the Ismaili match on Friday in the Egyptian League.
Maher has just returned from an injury that kept him off the field for nearly two months, as he came on as a substitute in the second half against Ismaili, but he only played for 20 minutes before being sent off for assaulting one of the Dervishes players.
According to the committee’s announcement, due to receiving a direct red card and assaulting the opponent in this manner, Nasser Maher was suspended for 3 matches with a fine of 50 thousand pounds imposed on him.
This means that the player will not be able to catch up with the Al-Ahly match, scheduled for February 22 at Cairo International Stadium.
The 28-year-old’s absence from the two matches against Pharco and Petrojet prior to the Al-Ahly match was also confirmed.
It remains to be noted that the Egyptian media revealed that Zamalek’s football director, Abdel Wahed El-Sayed, imposed a fine of 500 thousand pounds on Nasser Maher.
