Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois revealed that his favorite club in the English Premier League is not Chelsea.
Courtois played for Chelsea between 2014 and his move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 for 35 million euros.
The Belgian goalkeeper said in a press interview, “I loved watching Manchester United matches a lot because of my love for Edwin van der Sar.”
He also added, “I was going to move to United for a while, but they chose to sign David De Gea, which changed the course of my entire career.”
He concluded, “Yes, I can say that I am a Manchester United fan.”
In 2011, United were looking for a successor to Van der Sar, and by decision of Sir Alex Ferguson, they signed De Gea, while Courtois was his successor at Atletico Madrid, where he began to shine until he became one of the most important goalkeepers in football in the world.
