The Saudi Referees Committee has assigned one of the best referees in the world to manage the decisive Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad match in the Saudi League.
Al-Hilal complained of refereeing injustice in the last two matches, and the club and its coach, Jorge Jesus, were investigated after an attack against the refereeing committee and its Spanish president.
Given the sensitivity of the Clasico scheduled to be held at the Jewel Stadium, the Referees Committee decided to bring in a world-class European referee to get the match to safety.
SSC reported that German Daniel Siebert will lead the Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad match scheduled for next Saturday.
Siebert, 40, is currently considered the most important German referee and one of the elite referees in Europe, as he was also managing the Bundesliga summit between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday.
Zibert has refereed 29 matches this season in all competitions, including two in Saudi Arabia, one in the league between Al-Taawoun and Al-Qadisiyah, during which he showed a red card, and another in the King’s Cup between Al-Nassr and Al-Hazm.
The German has never refereed matches in Saudi Arabia before this season, and therefore has not refereed any matches for Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal before.
It is worth noting that Al-Ittihad leads the Roshn League by 4 points over Al-Hilal, who stumbled in the last two matches by drawing with Damak and then Al-Riyadh.
