Barcelona achieves 3 gains by getting rid of Roque.. but loses something important!

Barcelona completed the sale of Vitor Roque to Palmeiras, in a deal that was very important for the Catalan club on an economic level.

The Brazilian international, who joined Barcelona in January 2024, cost the Blaugrana treasury 30 million euros, but he only played 16 matches and was then loaned last summer to Real Betis.

Betis stipulated that in order to allow the loan to be cut short and Roque to complete his departure to Brazil, he would receive a financial compensation, which Barcelona completely rejected.

According to the newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona ultimately reached an agreement with Betis to compensate them for Roque’s departure by increasing their share of the rights of former Barça star Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.

Betis owned 50% of the rights to sell the player in the future, compared to 50% for Barcelona, but after the recent amendments, the Andalusian club now has 80% of the rights of the Moroccan international.

This is the only loss that Barça suffered from the Roque deal, but in return they gained many things.

The first thing according to “Mundo Deportivo” is that Barcelona had 23.5 million euros left out of the 30 million it paid to Atlético Paranaense, but now the value of Palmeiras buying him will fully compensate for this amount and achieve a small profit for the Blaugrana.

The second thing is related to the Financial Fair Play law, as Barcelona has now gotten rid of Roque’s salary in the salary scale, and accordingly it can renew the contracts of the duo Lamine Yamal and Inigo Martinez without any crises.

Finally, Barcelona will not pay the variable bonuses in the Roque purchase contract, estimated at 31 million euros, if the 20-year-old does not achieve any of them due to his weak participation and modest levels.
