Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid coach, confirmed that Fede Valverde will not participate in the Real Betis match on Saturday due to what he considered less than an injury.
The royal club has already lost the services of Dani Ceballos for a long time after a muscle injury he suffered in the match against Real Sociedad in the semi-finals of the Spanish King’s Cup.
Ancelotti refused to consider what Valverde is suffering from a serious injury, and was content to say that he has a slight muscle discomfort and that he prefers to rest him in the Real Betis match scheduled for the Benillo Villamarín stadium.
Ancelotti’s statements came after reports from the Spanish press that concern has begun to creep into Real Madrid due to Valverde’s injury and that the matter may be more serious than what is being said.
The Italian coach also confirmed that the Uruguayan international will participate in the match against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 next Tuesday without a problem.
In his absence, Ancelotti will have two options at right-back, Lucas Vazquez or Raul Asensio, although the Italian seems to prefer the latter for his strong defensive capabilities.
Valverde has missed Real Madrid’s last three matches in all competitions, and it may have been a good period of rest considering that he is the player who has participated the most in the Merengue matches this season.
