The newspaper “AS” confirmed that Fede Valverde’s participation in the match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the Champions League is subject to many doubts.
The Uruguayan international missed Real Madrid’s last 3 matches due to an injury, which coach Carlo Ancelotti said was not serious and that his exclusion was just a precaution.
But so far, and just 48 hours before the Atletico match, Valverde has not been able to train with the group, and on Sunday he was satisfied with individual training at Valdebebas.
There are doubts that Valverde will play in the match against Rojiblancos, as there are still some pains due to a muscle injury in his left thigh, from which he has not fully recovered.
Valverde will undergo a final test on Monday to determine his final position regarding training with the group and, consequently, his participation against Atletico.
In any case, the injury turned out to be much more complicated than expected, and Ancelotti’s words before the Real Betis match that it was simple were not accurate at all.
In Valverde’s absence, Ancelotti will have to rely on Lucas Vazquez at right-back, in order to return Raul Asensio to the heart of the defence alongside Antonio Rudiger.
It is worth noting that the 25-year-old has played 40 matches with Real Madrid this season in all competitions, during which he scored 8 goals and made 6 others.
