Benzema explains his plans after retirement

Karim Benzema does not expect to work in the field of coaching after retiring from football, but he strongly wants to get closer to Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

In an extensive interview with the newspaper “AS”, Benzema revealed the depth of the relationship that has brought him together with President Perez since the first time they met in 2009 until now.

The French international said, “When he decided to sign me, my father called me in Lyon and asked me to come home immediately. I found the president waiting for me and then the journey began. My relationship with him is very strong.”

He also added, “What will I do after retirement? I will not coach. It is more complicated than playing itself, but I want to be close to Florentino Perez.”

Benzema revealed the details of his departure from Real Madrid, saying, “Real Madrid is the best club in the world, and I did not want to move to another team that competes with it, such as Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City.”

“I achieved everything there, and it all ended with me winning the Ballon d’Or, so I wanted to leave Real Madrid in a good position,” he continued. “I told Perez before anyone else that I was leaving, he didn’t understand at first but I told him that Vinicius and Rodrygo were ready to replace me.”
