Barcelona welcomed the request submitted by Lamine Yamal to the Catalan club to allow him to fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the newspaper “AS”, Yamal was determined to perform the fasting duty, although it may affect his performance on the field in one way or another with the large number of Barcelona matches.
Yamal obtained an exception from the relevant religious authorities to break the fast only on match days, given the amount of effort expended.
Yamal’s nutrition during Ramadan is supervised by the first team nutritionist, Silvia Tremoleda, and the club advised the player to control food quantities in the days preceding the matches.
In general, Barcelona is happy with the professional approach followed by Yamal, and Barcelona confirms its respect for the Islamic religion and the duty of fasting, especially since the Moroccan-born player is not the first case, as the Catalans have previously dealt with Franck Kessie and Ousmane Dembele as well.
According to AAS, one of Yamal’s motivations for fasting is his close connection to his grandmother Fatima, who is currently performing Umrah. Despite moving to live alone in an apartment near the sports city, he breaks his fast every day with his family at the home of his uncle Abdo Brocafunda.
