Espanyol coach Manolo Gonzalez has confirmed his intense hatred for Barcelona, to the point that he refused to play for them when he was young, and will never coach them in the future.
Gonzalez said in a press interview, “When I was young, I refused an offer from Barcelona because I don’t like the club at all.”
He added, “To be clear, Barcelona didn’t do anything bad to me, but I don’t like them, that always happens in football.”
He continued, “I will never coach Barcelona and I don’t think they will ask me to be appointed.”
Gonzalez’s hatred for Barcelona is perhaps logical, given that he is a member of Espanyol, the eternal rival of the Blaugrana in the Catalan region.
As coach of Espanyol, Gonzalez played one match against Barcelona last November, and his team suffered a 3-1 defeat in the regional derby.
