Al-Khelaifi confirms: Paris Saint-Germain is far from winning the Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has eased the pressure on his team by confirming that they are not the favorites to win the Champions League this season.

Al-Khelaifi’s comments came after the historic penalty shootout victory over Liverpool at Anfield to advance to the quarter-finals, where the French club will face the winner of Aston Villa and Club Brugge.

The Qatari told the media, “The mission is not over yet. Many will say we will win the Champions League, but we are far from that.”

He added, “We qualified against Liverpool on merit. We were the better team in both matches, and I was optimistic despite the difficulty of playing at Anfield.”

He continued, “I have no words to describe my feelings after playing a great match at Anfield against the Premier League leaders and the strongest team in Europe at the moment. Our players are young, but their character is truly strong.”

“We are far from being the best team in Europe. We have to be humble. We are a young team, building something for the future. I have emphasized that time and time again,” he concluded.
