Liverpool manager Arne Slot has announced that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.
The England international sustained the injury during the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, and from the outset, the injury looked unusual.
Slot said in a press conference on Friday, “Arnold is unavailable. He won’t be in the final. He has to undergo further tests, and we expect him to be back before the end of the season.”
Arnold’s injury is a major blow for Slot, as Liverpool will be without a right-back for the Newcastle game, with Connor Bradley and Joe Gomez also injured.
Arnold was left out of England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the upcoming international break, confirming that he will need at least a month to return to action.
Apart from the right-back trio, Arne Slot’s squad will be fully fit for the match against Newcastle at Wembley Stadium in London.
