Sport Bild reported that Manuel Neuer’s return as Bayern Munich goalkeeper is closer than ever.
Neuer has missed the last three matches with the Bavarians after suffering a muscle injury while celebrating a goal against Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
According to the report, Neuer will return to Bayern Munich after the next international break and is expected to be in goal for Vincent Kompany’s side in the Bundesliga match against St. Pauli.
There are no concerns about the 40-year-old’s participation in Inter’s Champions League quarter-final matches, even if Kompany decides to rest him against St. Pauli.
Promising goalkeeper Jonas Örbig was Bayern’s starting goalkeeper against Bochum and Union Berlin in their last two Bundesliga matches, but conceded four goals. In Europe, he kept a clean sheet against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena.
Bayern Munich leads the Bundesliga but was eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in the round of 16. The coming months will be crucial in determining the course of the season, and the need for the club’s captain and most important goalkeeper, Neuer, is clear.
