Barcelona +90 crushes Atletico Madrid and reclaims the lead in La Liga

Barcelona achieved an important 4-2 victory over hosts Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, concluding the 28th round of the Spanish League.

Atletico took the lead for the third consecutive time, this time through Julian Alvarez in the 45th minute. Alexander Sorloth then added the second goal in the 70th minute, and everyone thought it was the end of the day.

But Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute, and Ferran Torres equalized in the 78th minute.

With the match heading for a draw, Lamine Yamal stepped in to score the third goal in the 92nd minute, and Torres then scored Barça’s fourth and his second in the 98th minute.

With this victory, Barcelona’s tally rose to 60 points, level with Real Madrid, with the Catalans having the better goal difference, and with a game in hand against Osasuna.

This defeat dented Atletico’s hopes of winning the La Liga title, leaving them with 56 points, four points behind the top two.

Barcelona and Atletico will meet again at the Wanda Metropolitano next month in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. The first leg ended in a 4-4 draw in Catalonia.
