Vinicius Junior will not take penalties for Real Madrid again until the end of the season, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti. He has already put in place a solid plan in the hope of capitalizing on these easy opportunities during the upcoming difficult period.
Viní missed a penalty against Valencia on Saturday, which contributed to the club’s 2-1 defeat and the club’s four-point lead over La Liga leaders Barcelona with eight rounds remaining.
According to Marca, Ancelotti has decided that Kylian Mbappé will be the primary penalty taker, starting with the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Arsenal.
The Italian is aware that Mbappé has missed more than once this season, most notably against Liverpool at Anfield and Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés. Therefore, he will not make him the sole penalty taker, but rather will be put on trial for a while.
If Mbappé successfully converts the penalty kicks, the situation will remain as it is. However, if the opposite happens, Ancelotti will award the penalty kicks to Jude Bellingham, despite his infamous miss against Valencia at Mestalla in the first round.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid is one of the European teams that has missed the most penalties this season, with its stars failing to convert five times in all competitions.
