In response to the Zizo deal? Zamalek agrees to sign a former Al Ahly star

Egyptian media reported that Zamalek has reached an agreement with a former Al Ahly star to sign him during the upcoming summer transfer window. This could be seen as a response to the Red Devils’ recent moves against the White Knights.

Al Ahly had previously agreed to sign Zamalek star Ahmed Sayed Zizo and was close to signing Mahmoud Hamdi El-Wensh before the defender decided to extend his contract with the White Knights.

According to recent reports, Zamalek has finalized an agreement with Mohamed Sherif, the former Al Ahly striker and current Al Khaleej striker, to join the club on a free transfer next summer.

Hussein Labib’s management is looking to bolster the striker position after Seif El-Jaziri and Hossam Ashraf failed to provide the desired impact. Sherif appears to be an ideal choice given his experience and proven track record in recent years.

Zamalek had previously negotiated a potential transfer with Sherif last January, but the player preferred to remain with Al Khaleej until the end of his contract.

The 29-year-old’s salary with Zamalek has not been disclosed, although figures circulated last January were around EGP 50 million annually.

Sherif played 53 matches for Al-Khaleej, scoring 9 goals, three of which came this season.

With Al-Ahly, he played 151 matches, scoring 58 goals and providing 11 assists. He won numerous titles, most notably the CAF Champions League twice and the Egyptian League three times.
