The Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has punished Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé for receiving a red card in his team’s match against Alavés on Sunday in La Liga.
Mbappé’s expected punishment was widely discussed, particularly given his extremely violent tackle on Antonio Blanco, with speculation that he could be suspended for at least four matches.
Ultimately, based on the referee’s report, the Disciplinary Committee decided to punish Mbappé with a one-match suspension for Real Madrid.
The referee’s report stated that Mbappé did not intend to injure his opponent, but that the contact was intense due to competition for the ball. Therefore, the decision was made to impose the minimum punishment.
The French star’s participation in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, scheduled for April 26 at La Cartuja Stadium, has been confirmed.
Mbappé will miss a key domestic match for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad: the match against Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
