Daily Mail journalist Dominic King claims that Real Madrid wanted to sign Mohamed Salah if he left Liverpool next summer.
The Egyptian international renewed his contract with the Reds a few days ago, ending the controversy surrounding his future and keeping him at the Merseyside giants until the summer of 2027.
However, according to the journalist, Real Madrid were considering signing Salah on a free transfer and were simply waiting for any sign that the “Egyptian King” would welcome the move.
The surprise here is that Salah showed no interest in the deal, and neither he nor his agent have given any indication of a willingness to negotiate or discuss a potential move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The 32-year-old’s primary desire was to remain at Liverpool, so he made a concession by reducing the length of his contract and making his salary increase conditional on his performance on the pitch.
This isn’t the first time Real Madrid has shown interest in signing Salah, and the player has repeatedly stated that he aspired to play in La Liga before the end of his career.
It’s worth noting that the club is also in the process of signing another Liverpool player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, on a free transfer after his contract with the Reds expired and he refused to renew.
