Mohamed Salah wasn’t interested in moving to any other club; his only desire was to stay at Liverpool, according to a report from Carpetasfcb, which claimed Barcelona was pursuing the Egyptian king.
The Daily Mail had previously reported that Real Madrid was interested in Salah and was waiting for any sign from his agent to make a move, but the player and his representative ignored it.
Now, the latest report indicates that Barcelona president Joan Laporta had been in contact with Salah’s inner circle, and things were progressing positively for the 32-year-old to join Camp Nou next summer.
Laporta believed that the competition to sign Salah would be limited to Barcelona and the Saudi Roshen League clubs. Despite the huge sums of money offered by the Saudi offer, the Catalan president was keen to capitalize on the idea of sporting glory to convince the Egyptian to join Hansi Flick’s project.
The unexpected surprise was that Salah suddenly renewed his contract with Liverpool, shocking Laporta and his management, who had hoped the Egyptian would be their biggest signing next summer.
It’s worth noting that Salah confirmed in his statements after renewing his contract with Liverpool that he was only thinking about staying at Anfield for as long as possible, while leaks emerged about his intention to continue with the Reds beyond 2027.
