Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Caro has confirmed that his club is open to the idea of Xabi Alonso joining Real Madrid next season.
Alonso is currently the leading candidate to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabéu, given that the Spaniard’s contract with Leverkusen still runs until the summer of 2026.
“There is an amicable agreement between us and Alonso regarding the possibility of his departure,” Caro told Sky Sports.
He added, “If Alonso receives an offer from a club where he previously played, we will sit down and talk, and we will not prevent him from leaving.”
He concluded, “Alonso’s fate should be decided within three or four weeks at the most. Our relationship with Real Madrid is very good, and we are ready to talk.”
German newspaper Bild revealed that Leverkusen will demand an amount ranging from 15 to 20 million euros to allow Alonso to leave.
