Mundo Deportivo reported that Pep Guardiola is refusing to let two Manchester City players leave at any cost next summer.
The English club is in the midst of a major revolution, beginning with the announcement of Kevin De Bruyne’s departure, followed by reports that Bernardo Silva has been told to look for another club.
Guardiola rejected the idea of the departure of Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, despite the criticism they have faced throughout the season for their clear decline in performance.
The philosopher believes in the importance of the duo and their capabilities, and believes that keeping them is an urgent necessity, as it will help strengthen the team in other positions rather than bringing in a new center-back.
With them alongside Nathan Ake, Abdulkadir Khusanov, and Manuel Akanji, Guardiola believes the center-backs are secure, and all the team needs is consistency.
Overall, Guardiola’s initial plans are to rely primarily on Diaz and Gvardiol in central defense next season, while also signing a new right-back and left-back.
City is planning to make a number of reinforcements next season, most notably a new goalkeeper and wingers, as well as a midfielder and a substitute striker.
