Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti announced that Kylian Mbappé will miss Wednesday’s La Liga match against Getafe due to a lack of fitness.
The French international suffered a sprained ankle during Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal, but it is not serious.
According to Ancelotti, Mbappé has not yet fully recovered, so it was decided to keep him out of the Getafe match.
At the same time, the Italian coach confirmed that Mbappé will “most likely” be ready for the Copa del Rey final Clásico against Barcelona next Saturday.
“Mbappé has been hurt by the injury, and what I see is that he is doing everything he can to be available against Barcelona,” Ancelotti said.
Mbappé’s situation is similar to that of his teammate Ferland Mendy, who has been sidelined for some time. Mendy recently returned to training but also has not fully recovered and was ruled out of the Getafe match, with expectations of his return against Barça.
Real Madrid is second in La Liga, four points behind Barcelona, who face Mallorca on Tuesday and have the advantage of an extra day of rest before the highly anticipated Copa del Rey final.
